NSF released new statement of priorities on April 18
The statement and accompanying FAQ provide clarification of NSF priorities, including the Broader Impacts criterion. Learn more

UNCG process for grant award terminations and stop work orders
If you receive an award termination, stop work order, or cease DEI activity notice, please forward it to Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) at research@uncg.edu as soon as possible. If final invoices are needed with quick turnaround, contact Contract & Grant Accounting (CGA) at grants@uncg.edu. Some federal sponsors are providing information about appealing the termination with the termination notice. OSP will work the PI and general counsel to determine a plan for appeal.

Join the Advancing Research and Innovation for National Defense Symposium on May 1

The event aims to foster a robust dialogue around the critical needs of national defense research, focusing on creating resources that enhance the safety and protection of soldiers in the field while also considering their post-service lives. Bringing together faculty, defense experts, and industry leaders, the symposium will explore innovative strategies related to research, education, workforce development, and health. Free but registration is required. Learn more

Join the UNCG AI Conference on Monday, May 12; register by April 28
Learn from colleagues as we explore how the UNCG community has effectively integrated generative AI into learning and beyond. Join the campus conversation about the need for an emerging AI literacy and consider strategies for promoting student success in an AI-enabled world. Hosted by the University Teaching and Learning Commons. Registration is free but required by April 28! Learn more

Chancellor's Initiative for Transformative Research, apply by May 15
Provides seed funding for promising projects that will lead to strong community impacts and attract significant external funding. Proposals should plan to develop internal and external partnerships that establish interdisciplinary projects to focus on advancing knowledge and building innovation, while exposing students to new experiences. Learn more

University Libraries: Open Access Publishing Support Fund, apply anytime
For full-time faculty, EHRA employee, or enrolled graduate student. Article must be published in peer-reviewed open-access journal. Up to $1500 reimbursment per fiscal year. Learn more

External Funding

Simons Foundation Pivot Fellowship, apply by May 15
This fellowship support researchers with a strong track record of success in their current field, and a deep interest and drive to make contributions to a new discipline. Provides one year of salary support, $10K professional development stipend, and $50K for the fellow's mentor. Learn more

William T. Grant Scholars Program, apply by July 1
Supports career development for promising early-career researchers in two different focus areas: reducing inequality in outcomes among young people, and improving the use of research evidence to benefit young people. Each scholar receives $425K over 5 years. Learn more

NSF CAREER program, apply by July 23
NSF’s most prestigious awards in support of early-career faculty who have the potential to serve as academic role models in research and education. Learn more

NC Biotech Center Translational Research Grants, apply by August 6
Funds projects that explore commercial applications or initiate early commercial development of university-held life sciences inventions. The technology must have potential to solve a real-world problem as a commercial product in the life sciences sector. Learn more

Gladys Krieble Delmas Foundation, apply anytime
The foundation's Humanities program provide grants to organizations for projects which address the concerns of the studia humanitatis: a humanistic education rooted in the great traditions of the pas and the ongoing debate over how these ideals may best be conceived and realized. Programs in the following areas are eligible: history; archaeology; literature; languages, both classical and modern; philosophy; ethics; comparative religion; the history, criticism, and theory of the arts; and those aspects of the social sciences which share the content and methods of humanistic disciplines. Dr. Asa Eger named a National Humanities Center fellow for 2025-2026.

His project is titled "Erased Archaeology: The 19th/20th Century Settlement of Bosnians at Caesarea, Israel." Itcombines archaeological excavation, oral histories, public history, and archival work to uncover the latest occupants of the Roman/Byzantine through Crusader city of Caesarea Maritima, capital of the provinces of Judaea and Palestina.

UNCG's Office of Research Compliance and Integrity has released a new IRB submission guide which provides step-by-step instructions for submitting an IRB application via the Cayuse Human Ethics module. Check it out and learn more about the IRB process at the UNCG Scholar site.
