I'm so happy to be home, with Ken and Blooma, with our dog Rosie and cat Midnight. Ken and I are still in the glow from the art opening for Getty's PST ART: Art & Science Collide exhibition Ancient Wisdom for a Future Ecology at the Skirball Cultural Center in LA. A BIG thank you to everyone involved in the show and to the Long Now Foundation for sharing their special Bristlecone Gin so we could make what we called "Ancient Fizzdom" cocktails at the opening. You can see highlights from the opening here.
Ken and I were honored to read such a thoughtful art review of our exhibition in White Hot Magazine by Lita Barrie. Lita really understood what Ken and I set out to do. There was also an article in Art, Currently about the artwork I donated to Artists for Kamala and For Freedoms, looking at what artists are doing for the election.
Which brings us to this huge pressure cooker we are all in....the presidential election! Seven. More. Days. It's hard to think of anything else.
I am rereleasing two of my films today that feel very relevant and will hopefully give you inspiration to phone bank (sign up here), knock on doors, anything you can do to save our democracy~! Truly. (Yes, many people hung up on me phone banking to Arizona but when I did talk to an undecided voter and connected with her about being a mother of daughters and why we needed to vote for Kamala, it was thrilling. One note, don't follow the script they give to phonebank, just speak from the heart.) This. Is. Existential.
Equally as important to me as reproductive rights, is for the hostages to be returned, Israel's right to exist as well as a Palestinian state, and a new way forward in the Middle East. For all of these reasons, Kamala gets my vote.
Now onto my re-releasing two films that feel relevant to this moment. First, Life, Liberty & The Pursuit of Happiness, a 12 min film I directed that premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2003. Co-written by Maya Draisin & Xandra Castleton, it breaks my heart that this film about reproductive choice made 21 years ago is even more poignant now. I was 6 months pregnant with Odessa at the screenings and she is now 21 and Blooma is 15, and they both have fewer reproductive rights in our country than I did at their age.

Second, Unstoppable (3 mins), music by Sia, EP'ed by Tanya Selvaratnam for Planned Parenthood. This rallying cry for women's rights is also what we need to watch as we head into this final stressful week.
Big love to Jennifer Steinman Sternin with whom I have now made films for 21 years and who as editor for both films helped update these two for the rerelease. Please see full credits for both films on links below.
