Common Reading 2017

Hello Jumbos!
We're announcing your Common Reading Book for Summer 2017: The Outrage Industry by Tufts Professors Jeffrey M. Berry and Sarah Sobieraj.
The Common Reading Program is co-sponsored by the Tisch College of Civic Life, which is committed to helping every Tufts student nurture a civic life. The Common Reading Program gives all incoming first-year and transfer students a shared intellectual experience and an opportunity to reflect on civic life and engagement as a member of the Tufts community. This year's book examines "outrageous rhetoric" -- conspiracy theories, mockery, flattery, and others -- and asks how the language of outrage is shaping public and private life in the 21st century.
We hope you enjoy this fascinating look at public discourse authored by two of Tufts' own! We can't wait to hear what you have to say about The Outrage Industry during Orientation!
