Janet Steele addressed the Santa Fe Council on International Relations on Feb. 1, with a lecture on "The Journalisms of Islam: Contending views in Muslim Southeast Asia."
Cheryl W. Thompson spoke on Jan. 25 at the International Visitor Leadership Program about what it's like to be an investigative reporter, and how newspapers and media outlets work to combat the spread of misinformation.

SLAVES, STUDENTS AND THE 1847 EXPULSION RIOT
Phillip Troutman will present new research on the history of slavery at Columbian College, the Baptist college that became GW. Troutman focuses on an 1847 case in which a young man enslaved by the college steward attempted to sue for his freedom with the help of a student who was expelled for his actions.
