On behalf of the Office of Undergraduate Research, season’s greetings to all of you in the undergraduate research community! Research at the U is thriving because of our research mentors, undergraduate researchers, staff support, and campus leadership. As we enter our winter break, we wish all of you a restful time, healing connections, and activities that are fulfilling for all of you. We recognize that for many in our research community, the research enterprise does not necessarily stop during the winter breaks. For those who continue to do the work of societal impact even during the winter break, we hope that you find time to rest, slow down and enjoy the wintery weather that Utah has to offer.

Recognizing faculty who mentor undergraduate researchers is a vital part of fostering a positive research culture. Each college has been invited to submit their outstanding undergraduate researchers and faculty mentors. Congratulations to all students who presented their work at the Virtual Fall 2023 Undergraduate Research Symposium on 12/1! This semester, we had 41 students present: view presentations on our website. 

Applications for Spring 2024 Undergraduate Research Leaders are due by Dec 28th. Apply here.

Funding Fridays and the IRB Lab have concluded for the Fall semester. Spring Funding Fridays will be held from 11AM-12PM on Fridays beginning Friday, Jan 12.
