Q: According to your website, Aeon was founded by two Medical Herbalists with backgrounds in publishing. How do you think this sets you apart from other publishers in this genre?
A: When we were training to be Medical Herbalists we really noticed the lack of decent core texts on the subject and so when we set up Aeon we had an insider knowledge of what was likely to be popular.
Q: The aim of Aeon Books is “to publish and promote the best writing in contemporary complementary medicine.” How do you find books on this subject that meet your standards?
A: Initially we approached the professionals that we were most impressed by at talks and conferences. We found a pent up demand from potential authors to get their ideas out there. Now we are more established we also get would be authors coming to us.
Q: Aeon has books in a wide range of categories, from ‘Chocolate’ to ‘Yoga’? Do you find that you have a favorite category to work on? If so, which is it?
A: I have to be careful as a publisher not to show favourites but I’m very interested in more specific subject areas such as ’Stress’ or ‘Mental health’ and of course who doesn’t like chocolate!
Q: Can you share a forthcoming Aeon Books title that you are excited about and why?
A: We’re very excited about A Working Herbal Dispensary: Respecting Herbs As Individuals by Lucy Jones. She is an amazing woman and herbalist and everyone has been waiting to see exactly how she works.
