What's the Difference Between SOUL Meetings & Academic Advising Appointments?

As you've been checking your Miami email, you've likely noticed invitations to sign up for orientation small group and individual meetings with your Student Orientation Undergraduate Leaders (SOULs). You are expected to attend three small group meetings; we also invite you to check-in one-on-one with your "go-to" SOUL for a one-on-one meeting to discuss specific questions and connect with an upperclass student leader. Small group meetings are an important part of your transition to Miami -- they provide insight into student life at Miami and what to expect during your transition to college.
While SOULs can provide insight on what you can expect from the Miami classroom, and they may have some awesome study tips and tricks for you, you should direct your academic plan and schedule questions to an academic advisor. Remember, you will receive an invitation to sign up for an academic advising appointment one business day after completing module 10 of the orientation Canvas course.
