Tips for Grads

It’s easy to find yourself in the graduate school bubble. You’re busy and there’s so much going on around campus it might not even seem necessary to get out and see more. But Madison has so much to offer. It would be a shame not to take advantage of the flexible time that both graduate school and the summer provide. If you’re looking for some ideas, check out these summertime activities to get you out and about:

  • Concerts on the Square: the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra plays a free concert on the steps of the Capitol. Spread out a blanket, bring a picnic, sit back and enjoy.
  • Find a festival: summertime in Wisconsin is festival season. Whether it’s a lumberjack competition, a celebration of butter, or just a county fair, you can find just about anything to celebrate.
  • Experience the theater: even though we’re not in Chicago or New York, there’s still great theater around Wisconsin. Though it may be a splurge for tickets, American Players Theater in Spring Green has a beautiful outdoor theater and is worth the price.
Still looking for something to do to get you out of the bubble? Keep an eye on events calendars from The Isthmus and Travel Wisconsin

We here at GradConnections will also be trying to get out and about this summer, so you'll be receiving this email every other week througout the summer.
