UVU was honored to welcome Rectora Dr. Lida Ascencios Trujillo of Peru’s Universidad Nacional de Educación and newly appointed Superintendent of Education.

As we settle back in after the Thanksgiving break and look ahead to the last week of the semester and final exams, I want to extend my appreciation for your continued resilience and hard work.

On Nov. 25, 2025, more than 300 community members lined up at Salt Lake City’s Central City Recreation Center for a free Thanksgiving meal prepared and served by students and faculty from UVU’s Culinary Arts Institute. 

Post-tenure review is a comprehensive evaluation of tenured faculty performance conducted every five years and serves three key purposes: "(1) [to] recognize performance in the discipline's endeavors that demonstrates growth and development; (2) [to] communicate to the faculty member improvements needed in scholarship, teaching, and service and in adhering to UVU Policy 635 Faculty Rights and Professional Responsibilities and other applicable policies; and (3) [to] enhance each individual's future productivity."

Big changes are on the way! Starting Fall 2026, UVU will switch to Honorlock as our official online exam proctoring solution. That means easier, more secure, and more improved testing experiences are just around the corner!

The UVU Faculty Externship Program offers paid summer opportunities for faculty to work directly with Utah businesses and nonprofit organizations related to their academic discipline.

Through hands-on experiences ranging from project participation to job shadowing and technology demonstrations, faculty gain firsthand understanding of workplace expectations and the durable and technical skills students need to thrive in today’s job market.

Spring semester begins on Monday, Jan. 5, so we encourage an early start preparing for your course(s)! OTL's Semester Start Checklist is full of great resources for updating and maintaining your online content on Canvas and Teams. We will also have dedicated time from Dec. 15 to 19 for spring prep. UVU is proud to host the Annual UVU Working Parents Conference, happening on Friday, Jan. 30, 2026, in the Grand Ballroom of the Sorensen Student Center.

This annual event is dedicated to creating a space where working parents can facilitate supportive relationships with those in similar situations, receive education on relevant topics for UVU’s working parents and caregivers, and discuss available resources.

Don’t miss two of the biggest holiday performances on campus this year. Bring some festive cheer with Sounds of the Season, a concert full of nostalgic and magical Christmas hits, or tap your toes to the rhythm of dance with the Ballroom Dance Company’s performance, Christmas on the Danube!
