| Time for Your Annual Flu Shot
Cases of flu are already being reported across the country. To make sure you're protected during peak flu months, it is recommended to get your annual flu shot by October 31.
If you don't have time before the end of the month - no worries - just schedule as soon as possible! It takes about two weeks after getting a flu shot to build immunity.
Clay County Public Health Center offers appointments for flu shots - schedule by calling 816-595-4355. You can also find more places offering flu vaccines via vaccines.gov.

Bivalent Booster Now Available
We are currently offering appointments to receive the updated bivalent COVID-19 booster. These new boosters have an updated formula that both boosts immunity against the original coronavirus strain and protects against the newer Omicron variants.
Anyone age 5 and older can receive this new booster if they've completed their primary series and it's been at least 2 months since their last COVID shot (any type). You can get the flu shot at the same time as a COVID booster.
Clay County Public Health Center is currently only offering the Pfizer bivalent vaccine. However, you can get the Pfizer booster no matter which type you've gotten before (Moderna, Novavax, J&J).
