THE THIRD SUNDAY AFTER EPIPHANY

Reminders about worship:
- Masks are still required while inside the church building.
- The nursery will be open from 8:15 a.m. through 12:15 p.m. for ages 0 - 3 years.
- At 8:30 a.m., the Holy Eucharist will be live-streamed and include a children's homily for 3 yrs - 6th grade.

| CHRISTIAN FORMATION AT 10 AM
Christian formation classes for all ages continue this Sunday at 10 a.m. Both Children, infants through 6th grade, and Youth, 7 - 12th grade, meet downstairs in the parish hall building.

| For Adults, Through February 27
Intro to Anglicanism with Fr. Sammy.
Survey Anglicanism's rich history and beliefs that make us who we are as Episcopalians. This class serves as preparation for the Rite of Confirmation (learn more about confirmation >>>here) and membership at St. Bartholomew's, as well as an enjoyable refresher course for life-long Episcopalians. The class will meet in the Nave.
Faith, Art, & Culture: Christianity Through the Lens of Art with Mimi Heldman and Nancy Cason. Reflect on spirituality through the lens of visual art by Marc Chagall, Meyer Wolfe, Caravaggio, Wassily Kandinsky, and others. The class will meet in Wallace Hall.

ANNUAL PARISH MEETING

Please plan to join us on January 30 for our annual parish meeting at 10 a.m. in the nave and on Zoom. Hear reports from the treasurer, senior warden, and Fr. Sammy. We will also elect four new vestry members. Play stations will be staffed in the gym for children 4 yrs. - 6th grade from 10 - 10:50 a.m. As usual, the nursery will be open all morning for ages three and under.
This Sunday, January 23: Fr. Sammy will call the meeting to order at 9:40 a.m. in Wallace Hall and on Zoom. This part of the meeting will last no longer than 15 minutes. All formation classes will meet as planned.

| VESTRY NOMINEES
This year we have a slate of eight nominees for the vestry. Four will be elected at the Annual Meeting through casting lots on Sunday, January 30. Thank you to these individuals for being willing to stand. May the Holy Spirit guide our elections!

| CELEBRATING & SENDING FORTH THE WOODS
Gifting the Woods
As is customary in the Episcopal Church and at St. Bartholomew’s, we will bless the Woods with a purse for their continued ministry in New York City. We also have plans for a gift of dedication that will remain here. Make a contribution to these gifts by Thursday, February 3 online >>>here (please select “Gift for the Wood Family”) or by mailing a check to the church office.
Please note that these donations are not tax-deductible. As has also become tradition, the church office is collecting notes and cards for the Wood family. Drop one off at the church or bring it with you on February 6.
Sunday, February 6
At both the 8:30 & 11 a.m. services. Fr. Sammy will preach and celebrate as Rector for the last time. Additional prayers will be used from the Book of Occasional Services, and the wardens will present gifts on behalf of the parish. Canon Jody Howard will be with us from the Diocese of Tennessee.
At 10 a.m., Join us for a festive reception celebrating the Woods outside.
At 5 p.m., Come back at 5 p.m. for our annual Epiphany bonfire. Eat BBQ from the Smokin' Buttz food truck, enjoy s'mores at the firepits, and watch the Christmas trees burn. Our favorite DJ, Steve Mason, will provide music. The evening will conclude with a final blessing from Fr. Sammy as rector and send-off for the Woods around the fire.

| THEOLOGY ON TAP
Thursday, February 10, 7 p.m.
Created for younger adults but open to anyone, Theology on Tap creates space for connection, conversation, and theology in a casual atmosphere. Join us on Feb. 10 when St. B’s own Ginny Lamothe will present a Theology of Hip Hop. Ginny is an Assistant Professor of Musicology at Belmont University, specializing in seventeenth-century music, historical dance, online teaching pedagogy, vaudeville, musical theater, and sound studies. We gather at 7 p.m. for drinks on the patio, and the presentation begins at 7:30 p.m.

| A WEEKEND WITH PHILLIP YANCEY
Friday, February 18 & Saturday, February 19
St. B’s will be hosting a weekend with internationally acclaimed author and speaker Philip Yancey. He comes to explore with us – as fellow pilgrims – what the point of this planet is and where it is headed.
Philip currently has more than seventeen million books in print and has been published in over fifty languages worldwide. His musical guest will be Buddy Greene, a Gospel Music Association’s Dove Award Winning Christian Artist. The event will take place in the Nave on Friday, February 18, 7 - 9 p.m., and Saturday, February 19, 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. This is a free event that is open to the public, and no registration is necessary, but an RSVP to stbsyanceyweekend@gmail.com is greatly appreciated. Join us as Philip Yancey gives a bird’s-eye view of the plot of the Bible, which is the plot of all of history.
