Message from Fritz

November is a liminal time. It is the transition of seasons from fall to winter, warm to cold. It’s when our younger teams are starting to wrap up fall play and are preparing for their last tournaments of 2021, while older players start trying out for their high school teams and making plans for college showcase tournaments. It’s hard to believe we are nearly six months into the 2021-22 season.

I would like to take this time to thank Jody Silva for his time as League President. Jody stepped down last month and continues to be a great friend to Surf. His efforts over the past year are greatly appreciated! Thank you Jody!

A few updates and reminders

Honoring Players
Friends of Surf are in the initial planning stages for a Feb 2 event to honor players who have signed letters of intent with colleges, have been named to Olympic Development Program (ODP) rosters and our regional Surf Select teams.

FLSL Board Positions Open
Keep an eye out for details about our upcoming Annual General Meeting. We will be electing new Board members into three anticipated openings; President, Vice-President and Community Relations/Outreach. Should you be interested in any of these roles, please let me know and I will pass your name to the nominating committee.

Surf Futsal
Rosters are currently being created for competition in Las Vegas on December 17-19. This should be a fun event for all participating.

Juggles for Dimes & Soccer Fest

Juggle for Dimes is this Saturday from 4 pm- 8 pm at Kemp! While many have signed up to juggle for dimes on behalf of their teams, this event is open to everyone juggling or not! There will be food, fun games, raffles, and club swag to purchase; its going to be a great club event and funds raised are going to a great cause. Think of it more as a SoccerFest! It's going to be a blast!

We would like to thank everyone who helped make our Halloween Classic Tournament a success. Faced with more referee shortages than anticipated, so many of you stepped into help and make this a success for the players. Also, thanks to all of you who volunteered to help us manage the playing sites. The list of people we owe our sincere thanks to is simply to great list here.

The costumes were amazing, in the image above your see our winners...grand champion has to go to the Loomis 09G Fierce as the Wednesday Crew. Epic! Blind refs are pretty awesome too! You can view all the costume contest submission pictures here. Thanks to all the clubs and teams that came and made this a great event!

In our latest Friends of Surf Update - special shout to Crumbl Cookies for hosting our September Dine Out fundraiser! You guys rock! And the October Coach of the Month goes too...Kylee Wosnuk! Thanks for all you do Kylee!

The Hub is our indoor training Facility with a 7,000 ft2 soccer pitch and an adjoining room for club events, team meetings, and classes. We wanted to update everyone on some of the fun activities and team bonding experiences that we offer here on top of our monthly class schedule.

Soccer Moms Craft Event

Saturday November 13th 7-9pm at the Hub

Come join other Surf soccer moms on Nov 13th at 7pm at the Hub for a fun simple craft evening. We will be making custom medal holders for your soccer star son or daughter.

This is a very simple and straightforward craft, you don’t need to be crafty to do it . Make something nice for your child whilst supporting our wonderful soccer club community.

Feel free to invite friends to come with you, everyone is welcome. Cost is $28 and includes all materials needed. Sign up by clicking the button below.

Folsom Lake Surf Challenge Cup

Folsom Lake Surf is delighted to announce the Surf Challenge, which will take place on the weekend of December 11th – 12th. A tournament for both girls and boys teams, U8 to U14 in Academy, Silver, Gold and Premier levels. Take advantage of flexible scheduling, and face off against the area’s best youth soccer players!
