Current Events and Future State: A Note from Brian Dickens |
Events happening in the world and our communities can have an either positive or negative impact on our daily lives. The current events we’ve experienced in our own state might feel particularly overwhelming for some. Fortunately, we have professional resources that can help those who may be struggling, feeling heavy or just in need of some additional tools in their mental health toolbox.
At UT, we are fortunate to have a robust employee assistance program (EAP), designed to provide free, confidential assistance to help employees and their families resolve problems that influence their personal lives or job performance. Spouses and dependent children of employees also qualify for EAP benefits. The program is available to all benefits-eligible UT employees and their immediate families, regardless of whether you participate in the State’s Group Health Insurance Program. To access these services, please contact Optum at 1-855-Here4TN (1-855-437-3486) or www.Here4TN.com.
As leaders and colleagues, it's important to be empathetic, gracious and mindful of how the events in our world can impact people's work.
Thank you for all you do to serve our great university system. Please know we are here to support you.

It’s an exciting time for the DASH project as the implementation moves into the adopt and adapt phase! Project team members from across the state, including over 200 recently added subject matter experts, are involved daily in prototype sessions. Prototype one is the first of three cycles. In total, there are 36 sessions being held between March 20 and April 21. Participants will get to see UT designed processes like entering leave requests, updating personal information, creating purchase requisitions, entering travel expenses and many more. Valuable feedback is being captured and additional deep dive sessions are being scheduled to address concerns and insights from the team. Everything garnered from prototype one will create a strong foundation for the next prototype cycle and inform our change management strategies.
Save the Date
If you want to see more of what is on the horizon for DASH, save the date for our first DASH town hall on May 3 at 3 p.m. EDT. We are excited to share project updates, hear from leadership and answer questions as we move closer to our July 1, 2024, go-live date. Be on the lookout for more details to come!

Upcoming Events of Interest |
The world is rich with diversity. Life flourishes when environments are welcoming of all values.
To support an inclusive environment, but not to promote or inhibit the celebration of any religious holidays, an updated observance calendar is included in this newsletter each month. Diversity is the one thing we have in common–celebrate it every day.
View the April calendar below for a full list of observances.
