HOUSE DEAR COLLEAGUE LETTERS URGE PRIORITIZING NSF AND DEFENSE S&T IN FY23
Members of Congress, including several members of the North Carolina delegation, sent two Dear Colleague letters this week regarding priorities for FY23 spending.
The first letter linked below, signed by NC Reps. G.K. Butterfield (D-NC), Alma Adams (D-NC), Deborah Ross (D-NC) and Kathy Manning (D-NC) along with Duke alums Reps. Scott Peters (D-CA) and Mike Levin (D-CA), requests that the National Science Foundation (NSF) receive at least $11 billion in funding for FY23.
The second letter linked below, signed by NC Reps. G.K. Butterfield (D-NC), Greg Murphy (R-NC) and Deborah Ross (D-NC) along with Duke alums Reps. Peters (D-CA) and Levin (D-CA), requests robust funding levels for a selection of Department of Defense (DoD) basic research program elements (PEs). The letter states, "DoD’s basic research initiatives enable discoveries in emerging technologies that provide transformational military capabilities necessary to maintain our edge over competitor nations."
