If you have not already done so, please drop off your Grandparents' Mailing Information Form in the Advancement Office (or email Julia Abbiss) so grandparents will receive their personal invitation on time.

Also, be sure to ask them to mark their calendars now, and make any travel reservations needed. We look forward to meeting them!

SUMMER EXPERIENCES: COLLEGE HORIZONS
College Horizons is a week-long intensive program for Native American, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian high school students, specifically designed to encourage personal identity growth while preparing indigenous youth for the college application process. Over its 21-year history, the NM-based organization has helped serve over 3,300 Native students, including a number of Prep students. This summer, Prep was represented at the CH programs at UMichigan and Brown by Hunter Gutierrez '21, Mateo Perez '20, and Emma Tsosie '21. Also pictured above are seniors Amory Malin and Jon McHorse, who attended the program in 2018 at UPenn. In addition to those pictured above, 2019 Prep grad Nia Moquino attended the CH Scholars program this summer, a 3-week college immersion experience at Lawrence University for Native students who are about to begin their first year in college.
A number of Prep faculty members have also been involved in the program. Mateo and Emma were accompanied to the Brown program this summer by College Counselor Matt Ybarra, who completed his 4th College Horizons program as a volunteer staff member. Tewa instructor Laura Jagles and former Prep teacher Rob Wilder have served as Essay Specialists at various CH programs for over a decade. Many Prep teachers have supported our students and CH by writing recommendations for our students in the competitive application process.
BREAKTHROUGH PROFILE
What does it take to be an incredible goalie? You have to be disciplined, focused, and quick on your feet. Molly Wissman, one of the top teen goal-keepers in the state, knows this quite well. Since joining Breakthrough three years ago, Molly has learned that these are also qualities necessary for first-gen students on their way to college.

Griffin Shout Outs

Rowan (third from left) and Rafaella (fourth from right), with other performers.
After performing with the Prep cast of Mamma Mia! at the Enchantment Awards at Popejoy Hall last spring, Rowan Dwyer '20 and Rafaella Mark '21 were invited to participate in a special performance honoring Popejoy's supporters in August. In just four rehearsals, they learned a medley, a duet, and a solo each. They were the youngest performers invited to participate. Congrats, Rowan and Rafaella! We look forward to seeing you on stage again soon!
Athletic Director Todd Kurth '81 and Director of Studies Kendel Fesenmyer competed in the Santa Fe Triathlon on August 24. Todd placed 3rd in his age group, and Kendel placed 2nd in her age group. Congrats to this winning team!
Anna Swanson '21 was the second player selected to join New Mexico United's High-Performance Program for youth players. Congratulations, Anna! We can't wait to see where this journey takes you!

YOU'RE INVITED

You're invited to a community game of lacrosse, played in the traditional way of the Haudenosaunee Nation (Five Nations, Iroquois) on Sunday, September 22 at 2:30pm at Brennand Field.
