A few ‘short and sweet’ reminders, updates and facts for you in this Stronger Together Update:

Don’t Throw Away Your Shot!
Booster shots, along with all COVID-19 shots, help protect us all from both COVID and variants. They are available for individuals over age 11 without an appointment at our R&D Park vaccination site, open Mon - Sat, 8:00 am - 6:30 pm; Sun, 8 am - noon.

Testing 1,2,3
  1. Our COVID testing sites continue to multiply, in terms of offsite and off-hours availability, as we seek 100% compliance. In addition to recently added sites previously announced in Riverhead, Setauket and the UPD on West Campus, two more are coming in Commack and Hampton Bays, so stay tuned.

  1. This week (December 13) fully vaccinated, healthy, monthly testers are last names M-R. Next week (December 20), it’s individuals with last names S-Z. Non-fully vaccinated individuals still need to test weekly.

  1. If you test at one of our main sites the SAC and HSC Galleria you will hear about a positive COVID result from our COVID response/contact tracing team within about 24 hours. At other sites it might take two to three days or more, based on using different vendors. You will not be notified if you test negative.

Important Safety Reminders for Students

Don’t Be Reeled in by COVID Phishing Attempts
Per an email from DoIT on Wednesday (December 8), please proceed with caution if you receive an email with an attachment or link to any university login page claiming to have information about COVID-19. Find more information on this COVID-19 phishing scheme, recently targeted to many universities, in this article.

Planning an Indoor Gathering/Meeting, Holiday or Otherwise? You Should Know This:
  • Everyone, regardless of vaccination status, must wear a mask when indoors except when actually eating or drinking (putting the mask back on whenever you’re not)
  • We recommend CulinArt for catering, as they follow all our safety protocols
  • We currently do not require social distancing, so there are no capacity percentage guidelines at this time
  • The University continues to closely monitor NYS, DoH and CDC guidelines, and will make individuals aware of any changes as they occur
