Turn Your Workplace Into an Experience at the Leon Works Expo!
At the 2026 Leon Works Expo, employers can move beyond traditional recruiting by showing, not just telling, what they do. This event challenges exhibitors to create interactive, hands-on displays that give high school juniors and seniors a practical, real-world introduction to your industry. Through demonstrations, simulations, or skill-based activities, you can help students understand career pathways while showcasing your work in a tangible and engaging way.
By taking this approach, you increase your visibility and position your organization as forward-thinking and committed to developing the future workforce. In a competitive hiring environment, delivering a memorable, authentic experience helps you stand out. If you want to strengthen your talent pipeline and build early connections with emerging talent, the Leon Works Expo provides a strategic platform to do it.

Women Leading the Tallahassee-Leon County Economy
This influence is reinforced through education. Women make up 59% of college students across local institutions, including Florida State University, Florida A&M University, Tallahassee State College, Lively Technical College and other surrounding technical schools (US Department of Education, IPEDS). This sustained majority in higher education signals a robust and growing pipeline of skilled talent entering the regional workforce.
| |
That pipeline translates into meaningful labor force engagement, with 75% of women participating in the workforce. Beyond participation, women are also driving economic activity as business owners. Tallahassee is home to 1,548 women-owned firms, underscoring their role not only as employees but as job creators and innovators within the local economy.
Industry distribution further illustrates where women are making the greatest impact. Women hold a majority across several key industries, led by Health Care & Social Assistance (77%) and Educational Services (66%), followed by strong representation in Finance & Insurance (61%) and Government (55%). They also comprise a majority in Accommodation & Food Services (54%) and maintain slight majorities in Information (51%), Professional, Scientific, & Technical Services (51%), and Arts, Entertainment, & Recreation (51%). This distribution reflects both a concentration in traditional sectors and a growing presence across technical and professional fields, underscoring women’s broad and diversified role in our regional economy (Lightcast, 2025).
Collectively, these indicators position women as a driving force behind Tallahassee-Leon County’s economic stability, workforce development, and entrepreneurial growth.
