Build Loyalty: Celebrate an Administrator
If your admin is a supporter of your program, nominate them for recognition! All nominees from middle school programs submitted by May 1 are entered into the running for national Middle School Administrator of the Year. At the high school level, each district will select a nominee from their pool as their winner to be entered into the running for national High School Administrator of the Year. District deadlines vary, but reporting forms are due April 16.
Learning How to Prep for an Extemp Speech
Have you checked out the newest Extemp resource? Each month, two-time national champion Jacqueline Wei uses one of our monthly practice questions to prep for and deliver a speech on camera. When your students do the same, they can compare and contrast their performance with an expert and make note of ways to improve their research, structure, and delivery. Check out the videos from February and March!

Intro to Framework for Students and Coaches
Our new self-paced NSDA Learn course introduces students or coaches to framework in Lincoln-Douglas Debate. This free course was developed by LD experts Nick Smith, head debate coach at Apple Valley High School in Minnesota, and Lawrence Zhou, 2014 national champion. Upon completion of the course, members will be able to:
- Explain the proper function of the value and criterion
- Identify and explain common frameworks and the philosophy behind them
- Craft a justified framework on a variety of topics and leverage it in round
Respond to a variety of frameworks
Learn more about framework yourself, share the course with assistant coaches, or instruct students to take it independently using the included comprehension checks as homework. It is worth three credit hours, and participants will be presented with a certificate verifying their participation upon completion of the course to meet professional development requirements.
