25 Years of Collaboration: CAE and USDA RMA Expand Partnership with Enhanced Funding |
May 2026 marks the 25th full year of Tarleton State University's Center for Agribusiness Excellence (CAE) partnership with the USDA's Risk Management Agency (RMA). This longstanding collaboration has been highly successful, prompting RMA to award CAE increased annual funding — from $3.5 million up to $5 million — to expand research initiatives. This milestone reflects the excellence and dedication of CAE's team over the past 25 years, as well as the effective leadership from Tarleton State administration and invaluable support from our federal liaison staff.

Texas A&M’s Transportation Institute Explores Future Partnership With Tarleton State |
|
|
The faculty at Tarleton State University’s Mayfield College of Engineering paid a visit to Texas A&M’s Transportation Institute (TTI) to allow faculty a chance to explore TTI’s software and hardware facilities and to discover areas that could support collaboration in the future.
Dr. Joe Zietsman, TTI Deputy Agency Director and Chief Research Officer, invited his team to present some of TTI’s current projects to Tarleton State faculty. Plans are in the works to coordinate a series of technical talks where faculty will have a turn to present and highlight their expertise.
For each research topic TTI will invite researchers that work in that area of expertise to facilitate collaboration. The partnership between TTI and Tarleton State has a bright future.

TAMUS Research Excellence Fund Internal Processes |
|
|
In response to the TAMUS Research Excellence Fund (REF) solicitation, RIED has developed the following webpage to provide Tarleton State researchers with the internal REF submission information and guidelines.
TAMUS Research Excellence Fund – Internal Submission Information
Please note Tarleton State University is limited on the number of total proposal submissions and on the total number of awarded projects we can receive. In order for RIED to review, approve and submit a proposal, an internal deadline has been set for each REF program.
We highly encourage you all to strategically connect with your TAMUS colleagues to provide collaborative support on REF proposals external to Tarleton State's submissions. As needed, RIED is here to facilitate cross-institutional collaboration for Tarleton State faculty and researchers.
Direct specific TAMUS REF program questions to TAMUS via ref@tamus.edu.
No NOISE Form required for TAMUS REF proposal submission.

IRB Study Review Process Transition to Cayuse as of March 25, 2026
|
| |
|
We will soon be launching training sessions to support faculty in submitting IRB, IBC and IACUC applications via the new Cayuse software platform. Stay tuned for more details!
Tarleton’s Institutional Review Board (IRB) will officially migrate to the Cayuse platform effective March 25, 2026, all IRB protocol submissions must be completed and submitted through Cayuse.
As part of this broader transition, all human subjects research submissions are moving into a single, integrated environment under the 'Human Ethics' in Cayuse. This shift strengthens the submission and review process by standardizing required information, improving communication between researchers and reviewers, and providing clearer visibility into each study’s progress from initial submission through final approval.
Please note that IRBNet will be fully discontinued on May 1, 2026. As we retire the system, please download and save copies of any IRB protocols that were submitted, reviewed, or approved through IRBNet.
RIED's Research Compliance team is also evaluating the Cayuse platform for future use with IACUC and IBC protocol submissions. This effort aims to streamline submission, review, and approval processes across all compliance programs. These additional modules are expected to be available in the Fall of this year.
Links to Cayuse sign‑in page, along with training materials and resources to help you get started and navigate the new platform effectively are available on our updated IRB webpage, to access Cayuse click below.
