Loyola Project for the Innocent's Wrongful Conviction Day
The Loyola Project for the Innocent (LPI) will convene friends and community partners on Monday, Oct. 3 from 12-1 p.m. at Loyola Law School to recognize and honor International Wrongful Conviction Day. Professor Laurie Levenson will serve as emcee and provide opening remarks in Robinson Courtroom. Exoneree guest speakers including Marco Contreras and Ruben Piñuelas will speak about their experiences and unique perspectives. LPI Legal Fellow Lena Kerouani and clinical student Leilee Ghassemi, will also share their international perspective on wrongful convictions. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. More>>

The Policing Los Angeles Forum (PLAF) series at LMU Loyola Law School continues this Fall with "Does Court Monitoring Provide Effective Oversight of Conditions in Los Angeles County Jails?" to be held virtually at 12 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 20. Panelists will include Professor Sunita Patel, UCLA; Melissa Camacho-Cheung, ACLU of Southern California; and Assistant Attorney General Eric Bates, LA County Office of Inspector General. Rights in Systems Enforced (RISE) Presents Survivor Voices
Join the Rights in Systems Enforced (RISE) Clinic at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21 for "Survivor Voices: Shifting the Conversation on Crime Victims’ Rights & Criminal Justice Reform" at LMU Loyola Law School hosted by the Rights in Systems Enforced (RISE) Clinic. The retreat will support survivor leaders from diverse backgrounds as they utilize their experiences to identify and propose improvements to the criminal justice system that focus on integrating the voices of survivors and strengthening the rights of victims to ensure that they are treated with dignity and respect. From 3:30-5:30 p.m., Survivor Leaders will present their recommendations developed during the retreat to Allied Professionals and Loyola Law School students. From 5:30-6:30 p.m., Survivor Leaders, Allied Professionals, and Loyola Law Students are invited for a networking event. RSVP>>
