Happy New Year and thank you for your continued interest and support of the UC Davis Behavioral Health Center of Excellence! We accomplished a lot in research, policy and education in 2015 and are looking forward to continuing our mission in 2016. Student Resiliency and Mental Health Fair 

Jordana Steinberg shares her story at UC Davis

Mental and behavioral health is a growing concern across the country. Jordana Steinberg, a Sierra College student who recently began sharing her story about overcoming mental illness, will speak to the UC Davis community on January 12. Jordana inspires other students by sharing her story of mental health challenges and recovery.
Participating student organizations including: Active Minds, NAMI, ASUCD, Out of the Darkness, One Campus Health Coalition, Mind Spa, Health Education and Promotion, UCSA and the Women's Resource Center will be available to share mental health resources.

Transforming California’s Mental Health Services:  The Story behind the Mental Health Services Act

Rusty will share the story behind the Prop. 63 initiative and why keeping a focus on mental health policy has been critical for the people of California. This lecture is open to the public with a specific focus on those who are interested in policy and healthcare.

Welcome Carolyn S. Dewa, MPH, PhD 

The Behavioral Health Center of Excellence is excited to welcome Carolyn S. Dewa to UC Davis as Director of the BHCOE Evaluations and Outcomes Core and Professor in the Department of Psychiatry. Carolyn joined the UC Davis faculty this fall from the University of Toronto.  She has expertise in mental health and health economics. As the Director for the Evaluations and Outcomes Core, Carolyn will research best practices to inform mental health policy and improve care for Californians.

Welcome Jessica Hicks, MBA

We would like to welcome Jessica Hicks, MBA as the new Administrative Director for the Center. Jessica is also currently the Management Services Officer of the Imaging Research Center and the Administrative Director of the Conte Center.  She has expertise in academic and research administration and grants management. 
We also want to take this opportunity to thank Kristy Bird Trouchon, MBA for her contributions to the BHCOE. Kristy has transitioned to a new position outside of UC Davis and we wish her the very best in her new career.
