After 28 years in Texas, Lisa Garza was looking for a change of scenery. In the summer of 2024, with her son finished with high school and her husband between jobs, the time seemed right for the family to embark on a move across the country. Garza has over 20 years of career services experience in higher education and after a few years in the recruiting world, she was looking for an opportunity to return to a university role. In July, she came to Puget Sound as the new director of Career & Employment Services. She instantly fell in love with the close-knit and welcoming Logger community.
"I'm excited to start a conversation on campus about the career readiness competencies our students develop both inside and outside the classroom,” Garza says. “Everyone at Puget Sound has a role in helping students articulate the skills they're learning and how those are preparing them for future success in their careers.”
When she isn’t on campus, Garza enjoys spending time with her husband and son, bowling, hiking, and speed puzzling—her newest obsession.
