Capital City Fruit has been recognized with the 2020 Business of the Year Award by the Norwalk Area Chamber of Commerce. The family-run business is led by DCHS alumnus and Foundation Board member Christian Comito '87, president and CEO of the company; alumnus Brendan Comito '85, chief operating officer; and Kieran Comito, vice president for purchasing. While dealing with the effects of the pandemic, the company has remained committed to its donation program which benefits local non-profits such as the DMARC Food Pantry, Catholic Worker House, and Food Bank of Iowa. Robert Pascuzzi '82 is a writer and co-producer of "The Ravine," a Hollywood-feature film to be released on April 2, 2021. Inspired by true events, the film is based on his best-selling novel. Learn more and watch the trailer online.
The Des Moines Business Record has announced the 22nd annual list of Forty Under 40 honorees. Among those recognized are the following DCHS alumni: Kenia Calderon Ceron '13 (VP/Bilingual Business Development Director - GreenState Credit Union); Jen Cross '07 (VP of Donor Relations - Great Outdoors Foundation); Colleen MacRae '03 (Attorney/Shareholder - Nyemaster Goode PC); and Kendra Marshall '04 (Director, Business Strategy - Sammons Financial Group). The honorees will be profiled in the March 20 edition of the Business Record and recognized at an event on April 7. Congratulations to these outstanding alumni!  
Alumnus Kevin Judge '05 was recently featured by the Des Moines Symphony as part of their DMSO at Home series, a project aimed at connecting with the community online through videos, livestreamed concerts, and more. Judge is a professional musician with the Des Moines Symphony and a professor and academic advisor in the music department at Iowa State University.  
Pete Faber '95, owner of Barn Town Brewing, was recently featured in the Des Moines Register for the unique dining experience they are offering to help patrons maintain social distance amidst the pandemic. Congratulations to Gina (Theisen) Bohler '79, RN, on her retirement. After thirty-three years of travel as an executive sales rep and forty-four years of patient care, she has relocated to Lake of the Ozarks. Her three children and two grandchildren are scattered throughout the Midwest. She looks forward to enjoying time on the lake and welcoming visits from family.
