STEM Students from
St. Francis College Attend MACUB Conference
|
Twenty-six students, mostly from the CSTEP program, along with several biology professors and members of the SFC academic-support staff, traveled to Bronx Community College on November 2 for the 57th annual Metropolitan Association of College and University Biologists (MACUB) Conference. While there, attendees heard experts discuss a variety of scientific topics.
Several students were recognized for the posters they presented. Celine Morkos and Arlinda Zeqiraj, who were mentored by Dr. Katsuhiro Kita, took first place in the clinical category. Placing second in the same category were Haele Boyce, Nowha Braithwaite, Daniel Castro, Mariam Habib, Riad Itani and Oren Park, who were mentored by Dr. Maria Frias. Students' attendance at the MACUB Conference was made possible, in part, by an HSI (Hispanic-Serving Institution)-STEM grant, of which the College is a recipient.
