Back to School Season Means Back to BYM Youth Cons! |
The back-to-school season marks the return of BYM's popular Young Friends and Junior Young Friends conferences! Young Friends is BYM's program for high-school-aged young people (grades 9-12), gathering throughout the year at different BYM monthly meetings for weekend-long conferences. Junior Young Friends are one-night conferences for middle-schooler (grades 6-8). Come for one YF or JYF Con - or come to them all! Our YF Cons and JYF Cons are under the care of BYM's professional Youth Programs Manager, Geneieve Legowski, and are supported by Friendly Adult Mentors - "the FAM" - vetted Quaker volunteers. Serving as a "FAM" is a rewarding way to connect with younger Friends, support them in their spiritual journeys, and deepen your own spiritual life in intergenerational community. To apply to be a FAM, contact Genevieve at YouthPrograms@bym-rsf.org

Sep 30 Session to Begin Exploring BYM Structures |
On Sep 30 at 7:00pm, join the BYM General Secretary on Zoom to learn more about and give early feedback on a Study Group proposal that will come to the November Interim Meeting. In collaboration with the outgoing Presiding Clerk, the General Secretary proposes a 12- to 18-month process to consult with BYM monthly meetings and yearly meeting committees to study the structures of our Yearly Meeting. The study group would seek to identify the pain points in our efforts to support the thriving of monthly meetings and to engage in larger undertakings together - and make proposals for change. The goal is to hold consultations with BYM Friends and report back over the next year and bring some initial ideas for change to Annual Session 2027 for threshing.
