Financial update May 2025 |

With constant media alerts about layoffs in government, stock market instability and tariff threats it is sometimes difficult to take a step back and actually assess what is happening. In late April 2025 the US Bureau of Economic Analysis released data that the US economy contracted in the first quarter (January to March 2025), by approximately 0.3%, seasonally adjusted, indicating negative growth of 0.3%. Read more

Denise Field, Shareholder at Buchalter was a featured panelist at the 2025 Equipment Leasing & Finance Association (ELFA) Legal Forum, held on Monday, May 5, in Charlotte, North Carolina. She participated in the panel “Artificial Intelligence: Understanding and Working with the Ever-Changing Operative and Legal Landscape.” The session explored how AI is reshaping the equipment leasing industry, with a focus on the evolving legal, ethical, and compliance challenges—as well as opportunities that come with the new technology. The panel sparked valuable conversation among industry leaders navigating the future of AI in equipment finance.

Dr. Faten Ben Bouheni has established a distinguished academic career in Europe (France). She gained global recognition as a visiting Professor at San Diego State University and as a Lecturer at San Francisco State University. In 2021, she joined Menlo College as an Adjunct Professor of Finance. Her teaching expertise and research contributions were quickly acknowledged, leading to her appointment as an Assistant Professor of Finance, FinTech, and Real Estate in 2022. By 2025, Dr. Ben Bouheni received a well-deserved promotion to Associate Professor and was honored with the prestigious Dean's Scholarship Award, reflecting her commitment to excellence in higher education and academic leadership. Â Â
