Polls Open Tomorrow: District Leadership Election and Hall of Fame
High School District Leadership Election: The biennial election will take place from April 2 to April 30. Each high school’s advisor may cast their vote by logging in to their NSDA Account and selecting NSDA Voting from the left-side menu. Results will be announced in early May, and elected leaders will need to confirm their acceptance of the position by the end of May.
Active, paid member coaches listed on a school’s roster within the district are eligible to serve on the District Committee. We encourage any coach interested in leadership to communicate their interest to their fellow coaches and advisors in the district. This is a great way to ensure diverse voices are represented on the committee!
Hall of Fame Voting: The highest honor for any high school speech and debate coach is election to the NSDA Hall of Fame. Hall of Fame voting will take place from April 2 to April 30. Current Hall of Fame members and active coaches with three or more Diamond Awards may vote online to select this year’s inductees. To access the ballot beginning tomorrow, eligible coaches can log in to their NSDA Account and select NSDA Voting from the left side menu.

Upcoming District Qualification Pilot Option
As you consider who to vote for (or if you’re ready to serve), please keep in mind that the NSDA will launch a one-year pilot program in 2025-2026 that allows up to 25% of districts to design and implement an alternative qualification method for the National Tournament. The goal is to provide flexibility for districts to create a qualification process that better serves their schools and students while maintaining high competition standards. When you vote in the leadership election, you will help determine who may guide your district through this process.

Last-Chance Qualifier: Time is Running Out to Register
If you have students who didn't qualify to Nationals or who were unable to attend the district tournament, they still have the Last-Chance Qualifier option on April 24-26! This is a free, online tournament offered by the NSDA and The Julia Burke Foundation. Registration is open until April 17. Details »

Recognize Your Graduates with NSDA Honor Cords
NSDA students are eligible to wear honor cords at graduation and induction ceremonies. Honor cords demonstrate membership in our Honor Society and, for many, the opportunity to wear them is an enticing part of membership.
School policies vary—check with your administration about whether your students can wear honor cords, and share our letter to help make the case.

Grants Available for High School Teams Attending Nationals
The NSDA is proud to pledge around $100,000 to schools that need financial assistance in order to attend the high school National Tournament. With support from The Julia Burke Foundation and other donors, the Road to Nationals Fund provides grants ranging from $100 to $1,000 for tournament expenses such as food, travel, and lodging.
