Longwood from Home

With April just around the corner, we hope you’re delighting in the signs of spring all around us. Read on for plenty of springtime fun here in Longwood from Home, as we share the winner of our spring plant bracket, which iconic Longwood plant just made its new home in our Camellia House, exclusive Member discounts and offers perfect for seasonal planting, and much more.

What’s in Bloom

It’s time to bask in the beauty of spring! Make your plans to visit our Gardens to experience the beauty of Spring Blooms, from our vibrant tulips to our delicate wisteria that grace our Gardens as the season unfolds. Looking for even more spring beauty? Learn where to find “hidden gems” in this video that details some of the often-overlooked flowers and foliage of spring.
And the Winner Is …
After four weeks of tough match ups and thousands of votes, we are excited to crown the spring plant bracket champion. The honor goes to … the tulip! Want to see these beauties in person? Stay tuned for notifications when our tulips will be in peak bloom, or check out What’s in Bloom to see when all of our spring plant bracket contenders pop up in the Gardens.
We enjoyed playing our Gardens version of March Madness with you. Want to see a full recap of the match-ups? Check out this downloadable bracket.
Dive into Longwood Plant History
With the Longwood Reimagined: A New Garden Experience project underway, many of our plants are on their way to new homes in our Main and East Conservatory, including our spectacular rabbit’s-foot fern, which just moved to its new space in the Camellia House in the East Conservatory. Originally planted in 1953 and formerly housed in the Tropical Terrace, this 70-year old giant is our largest hanging basket, measuring more than 9.5 feet in diameter.
