The Downtown Tucson Partnership (DTP) is excited to announce the availability of the Downtown Tucson For Everyone grant program! HSL Properties and the DTP have contributed $10,000 each to fund a total of $20,000 for a program that will be granted to events and programs that attract more diverse audiences to the downtown.

Disability Pride Day is coming to downtown this December and in conjunction, businesses can take free training to gain valuable information for persons with disabilities. If you're looking for additional news in Pima County, check out "Under The Dome" from the desk of the County Administrator, Jan Lesher.

We welcome six new businesses that have opened in the past month, adding to downtown's ever-growing number of retail, food and service options. Check out these businesses while you're downtown this weekend at the Tucson Pride Parade! Learn more about downtown events and updates below.

Now Available: Downtown Tucson For Everyone Grant Program

The DTP is thrilled to announce the launch of the Downtown Tucson For Everyone grant program, with support from HSL Properties! Downtown Tucson For Everyone is a series of DTP/HSL-sponsored programs and events. DTP's Social Justice Committee reviews and awards grants of up to $2,000 to programs/events presented in Downtown Tucson that demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and reach underserved communities. DTP Hosts Successful Annual Meeting

The DTP's Annual Board Meeting was held on September 14 at The Leo Kent Hotel, which featured Visit Tucson President & CEO, Felipe Garcia, along with an Annual Report by DTP President & CEO, Kathleen Eriksen, the election of new officers and new board members, and year-two strategic planning for the DTP. We are so happy to welcome six local businesses to Downtown Tucson! Disability Pride Day and Free Business Training

The Office of Council Member Paul Cunningham, Ward 2 will be hosting the second annual celebration of disability, Disability Pride Day, on Sunday, December 3 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., in the exhibition hall at the Tucson Convention Center. The aim of this family-friendly event is to raise awareness of the immense skills, talents and expertise that exist within the disabled community.

In conjunction with the event, they are providing downtown businesses the opportunity to take free trainings on disability covering the following topics:

Disability Etiquette
Small Business & the ADA
Service Animals & ADA
Readily Achievable Barrier Removal for Small Business
Social Media & the ADA
ADA History & Overview
Minimizing Implicit Bias
Effective Communication and the ADA

The classes, which come with a certificate of completion, can be accessed by creating a free account here. Once you have completed one of the classes, please e-mail your certificate to Chris Desborough at chris.desborough@tucsonaz.gov and he will send you a “Commitment to Access.” This certificate can be proudly displayed within your business as a sign of your support to helping create a more inclusive experience for persons with disabilities.

Happy Tucson Pride Weekend!

Celebrate at the 2023 Tucson Pride Parade, sponsored by SAAF. There will be floats, an exciting crowd, and a whole lot of fun! The parade will be happening this evening, Friday, September 29, at Armory Park starting at 7 p.m. Find the parade route and full details here.

Volunteer at the 50th Annual Tucson Meet Yourself
