A whole new world
Tulsa native Cecilia Nguyen (BS ’23) said her transfer to TU amidst the COVID-19 pandemic made it challenging to socially transition onto campus due to virtual classes and limited opportunities to meet new people. However, her involvement with the Vietnamese American Student Association changed that by giving her an opportunity to connect with fellow Vietnamese students who shared similar values and experiences.

Media that matters
As a TU Presidential Professor teaching audio journalism and co-teaching multimedia journalism, Mary Anne Andrei said her goal is to inspire students to tell stories that make a difference. “In my classes, students learn to become better listeners, better storytellers, and better writers,” she said. “By learning to make media, I hope that students become savvy consumers of news, entertainment, and advertising.”

Form and function
Bob Pickering, the new R.M. and Ida McFarlin Dean of the Library, is overseeing major transformations in McFarlin’s physical space and digital resources that will make the library more valuable to scholars and researchers. “The beautifully appointed spaces, updated equipment and enhanced amenities will benefit every student, faculty, and staff member who walks through our doors,” he said.
