Earlier this month, Alex Isaak (BA ’19) won two Heartland Emmy awards for work she did at KOTV-NewsOn6 in June 2022. She credits much of her readiness to the lessons she learned on campus. “TU’s media studies curriculum had a good mix of theoretical and practical coursework. I also served as director of TUTV on-and-off for about two years and produced/directed the organization’s first livestream for the 2018 midterm elections,” she said.

Rx for success
At TU, students embark on a transformative academic journey through the distinguished Tulsa Undergraduate Research Challenge. Luis Juarez (BSChE ’20) participated the TURC Junior Scholars summer program, which allows local high school students to participate in cutting-edge research. Juarez, who graduated from Tulsa Memorial High School, has gone on to a successful career as a rotational development engineer at Pfizer Inc.

Expending energy
TU students enrolled in Seminar in Energy Management recently traveled to Aberdeen, Scotland, to see how one of Europe’s energy drivers is maintaining its position as a leader in the industry while the North Sea’s oil supply continues to decline. “Aberdeen is known as the energy capital of the world,” said Chris Klimek (BSBA ’23). “As students trying to learn how the world of energy works, this city had a lot to teach us.”
