Today, May 21, marks one year since Sarah Milgrim, a beloved member of our Kansas City Jewish community, and her partner, Yaron Lischinsky, were murdered outside the Capital Jewish Museum. In the face of these devastating losses, our community is moved to carry forward Sarah’s legacy of compassion, purpose and peace.
Thanks to the initial efforts of the Jewish Federation of Greater Kansas City which has supported the family and accepted contributions in Sarah's memory, her family has established The Sarah Milgrim Fund at the Jewish Community Foundation to honor Sarah's inspiring dedication to repairing the world.
The Milgrim family will make distributions from the fund to organizations that support causes that were important to Sarah - animals, the environment, pollution and climate change, peacebuilding in the Middle East, and diplomacy and bridgebuilding - and provide opportunities for students to further their education, participate in special projects and/or study abroad. If you would like to donate to the fund, you may do so here.
