(SACRAMENTO, CA) - Keith Sweat will “Make it Last Forever” when he takes the stage at the California State Fair on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 as part of the Toyota Concert Series on the Sky River Casino Stage and “Nobody” will want to go home.
Sweat is celebrating nearly 40 years as a chart-topping performer since the release of his debut album, Make It Last Forever in November of 1987. The album sold over three million copies. The hit, “I Want Her” skyrocketed to number one on the R&B charts. “Make It Last Forever” and “Something Just Ain’t Right” made it to the top five of the R&B charts. As a result of this album, Sweat left his job as a brokerage assistant on Wall Street.
Sweat continued to have success with the release of his second album in 1990, I’ll Give All My Love to You. This album included the hits “Make You Sweat” and the album title “I Give All My Love to You”. Both songs reached number one on the R&B charts. Additional songs from the album, “Merry Go Round” and “Your Love, Pt. 2” reached the top-five on the R&B charts. By the end of 1991, Sweat released his third album entitled Keep It Comin’. The title track to this album went to number one on the R&B charts.
Sweat is considered to be one of the pioneers of the New Jack Swing era, a genre of music that emerged in the late 80s and early 90s that incorporated hip-hop with contemporary soul, high-tech funk, and in some cases rap.
In 1994, he released a fourth album entitled Get Up On It. From this album, he had another hit, “How Do You Like It?”. In 1996, he released a fifth self-titled album, Keith Sweat. The songs “Twisted” and “Nobody” reached the top five on the pop charts. He followed up with another album in 1998, Still in the Game which went platinum.
Sweat continued to release music. In 2000 he released the album Didn’t See Me Coming; 2002, Rebirth; 2003, Keith Sweat Live; 2007, a Christmas album - Christmas of Love; and Sweat Hotel Live; 2008, Just Me and Some More; 2011,Ridin’ Solo.
“Keith Sweat's performance is going to be one that our guests will talk about long after the Fair ends,” said Tom Martinez, CEO of Cal Expo and the California State Fair.
