But when he begins to discuss his research with clinicians treating veterans and others suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or a traumatic brain injury (TBI), the pieces begin to fall into place.

The new Research Enabled portal helps companies in need of your expertise for research, service work, and collaborations to pursue funding, and more, easily connect with you. Make sure you've claimed your researcher profile, entered any resources you have available for industry contract work, and set your communication preferences. Also, you can post your current ideas and projects that would benefit from industry collaboration and support (just keep it non-confidential) for companies to browse. And, if your business contacts want to contract with the university for you to provide resources or service work, send them to Research Enabled for quick, easy contract processing.
Research Enabled is a collaboration between the UM and SIU systems, partially funded by a US Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration i6 Award.
NSF Revises Proposal & Award Policies and Procedures Guide
The National Science Foundation (NSF) has announced a revised version of their Proposal & Award Policies & Procedures Guide (PAPPG) (NSF 22-1). The new PAPPG will be effective for proposals submitted or due on or after October 4, 2021. Significant changes include:
- A new section covering requests for reasonable and accessibility accommodations regarding the proposal process or requests for accessibility accommodations to access NSF’s electronic systems, websites and other digital content;
- A table entitled, NSF Pre-award and Post-award Disclosures Relating to the Biographical Sketch and Current and Pending Support. This table identifies where pre- and post-award current and pending support disclosure information must be provided. Proposers and awardees may begin using this table immediately;
- Increasing the page limit for the biographical sketch from two to three pages;
- Updates to the current and pending support section of NSF proposals to require that information on objectives and overlap with other projects is provided to help NSF and reviewers assess overlap/duplication;
- Adding planning proposals and Career-Life Balance supplemental funding requests as new proposal types;
- Updates to travel proposals will require that AORs certify that prior to the proposer’s participation in the meeting for which NSF travel support is being requested, the proposer will assure that the meeting organizer has a written policy or code-of-conduct addressing harassment.
We encourage all faculty who submit to NSF to review the by-chapter summary of changes provided in the Introduction section of the PAPPG. DZ BANK Fellowship on Transatlantic Business and Finance

The American Council on Germany is currently seeking applications for the DZ BANK Fellowship on Transatlantic Business and Finance. This fellowship allows American and German academics; practitioners from banking, business, and government; and journalists to conduct research on key issues influencing the transatlantic economy – including business, finance, trade, banking, fintech, innovation, and entrepreneurship. The fellows will conduct research, engage counterparts on the opposite side of the Atlantic, and produce analytical reports. Candidates for the DZ BANK Fellowship on Transatlantic Business and Finance must:
- Be either United States or German citizens living in the United States or the European Union;
- Be 45 years of age or younger at the time of the application deadline;
- Have a minimum of five to eight years of relevant, full-time work experience;
- Hold a minimum of a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent);
- Demonstrate a track record of outstanding professional performance; and
- Have a sincere commitment to furthering the transatlantic relationship

Education Research and Special Education Research Grant Programs

The Department of Education (Department) is issuing a notice inviting applications for new awards for fiscal year (FY) 2022 for the Education Research and Special Education Research Grant Programs. In awarding these grants, the Institute of Education Sciences (IES) intends to provide national leadership in expanding knowledge and understanding of (1) developmental and school readiness outcomes for infants and toddlers with or at risk for a disability, (2) education outcomes for all learners from early childhood education through postsecondary and adult education, and (3) employment and wage outcomes when relevant (such as for those engaged in career and technical, postsecondary, or adult education). The IES research grant programs are designed to provide interested individuals and the general public with reliable and valid information about education practices that support learning and improve academic achievement and access to education opportunities for all learners. These interested individuals include parents, educators, learners, researchers, and policymakers. If you are interested in applying to this competition, please notify the Office of Research (stutte@umsl.edu) by July 16 as the University is allowed to submit only two nominations. Nominees agree to work full-time for two consecutive months during the summer on a humanities project. Allowable costs include compensation, travel, and other scholarly costs related to the project. The maximum award amount is $6,000.

The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Division of Education Programs is accepting applications for the Humanities Connections program. The purpose of this program is to expand the role of the humanities in undergraduate education at two- and four-year institutions. Your tech transfer staff work to analyze the technology regarding intellectual property protection and the market need to determine whether patent applications should be filed and/or copyrights should be registered. For those inventions that can be protected (and even some that cannot), we then look for potential industry partners, which could include established companies and/or startup ventures, to license and commercialize the discovery.
We also process all Material Transfer Agreements (MTAs), Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs), and research-related fee-for-service agreements, among others, for UMSL.
