Message from Outgoing BECOP Chair

It has been a privilege to serve as your 2022 BECOP Chair!

While coming out of the pandemic years, my goal was to re-engage the community once again, but in a way that was mindful of our evolving personal and professional capacities and with a focus on event quality over quantity. Seems we moved successfully through 2022 with positivity, patience and progress.

I must give a huge shout out to our BECOP Executive Board and volunteers over the past year! I am so appreciative of the time they give, grateful for their flexibility through changes, and fortunate for their drive to continuously improve our Business Excellence Community of Practice! And to YOU, the Community, your support in attendance of our events has been marvelous - it’s so great to see you all, to share and grow together!

We’re looking forward to exciting events and changes for 2023! One of which is leadership - A grand WELCOME to your 2023 BECOP Chair, Loralyn Cross! Loralyn and I have known each other for years through continuous improvement and spent the last year working with BECOP in preparation for another exciting year! Her leadership and the 2023 Board are sure to deliver exciting new events!

As we look forward to building community and growing together next year, I hope you will first celebrate this year while you relax and rejuvenate during the upcoming holiday season. Thank you again for a fantastic year - Cheers!

Message from Incoming BECOP Chair

It is my privilege to serve as your 2023 BECOP Chair. I feel like we have all lived several lifetimes over the last few years and as Kevin noted we’ve aimed to re-engage our community in 2022 with quality offerings while respecting the time commitments of our volunteers. Moving into next year I’d like to build upon those efforts by capitalizing on our prior lessons in efficiency starting with our board operations. It is my hope that by embracing lean within our own processes we can lighten the load on our incredible volunteers who already give so much and minimize the barrier to entry for future volunteers expanding our community even further.

I want to express gratitude to Kevin for his service as Chair over the last year; he is a true servant leader! I’m also incredibly thankful for our current BECOP board and all our volunteers who have made every event possible as well as contributed to our involvement in various programs and groups across campus. To our BECOP community – we hope you have found our event offerings to be engaging, stimulating and valuable and we look forward to delivering more exciting events in the new year and continuing to grow and build this amazing community.

Lean HE Quick Takes

Lean HE Quick Takes is a quarterly 60-minute virtual event that showcases 3 Lean-related ideas, 15 minutes each, with 8-10 minutes of presentation and 4-5 minutes of Q&A for each idea. The purpose is to educate our Lean in Higher Education (LeanHE) community on Lean culture, principles, processes, methods, and tools as they are applied at universities and colleges.

Transformational Healthcare Report Out

Join us every month to hear about the great continuous improvement work happening across UC San Diego Health. This event is scheduled on the last non-holiday Friday of each month from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. Join our distribution list. Updates are entered monthly and you'll then receive the zoom link.
