GET INVOLVED
Seeking PKD National Tournament Director » The National Council of Pi Kappa Delta is seeking an enthusiastic and talented colleague to serve as the next National Tournament Director. Although our order is far more than a set of national tournaments, our tournaments are among our most important events. As such, we are seeking an individual who can help us make these events the very best they can be. For more information, please click here.
Call for 2016 NCA Papers » Colleagues, we invite submissions for the 102nd NCA Convention in Philadelphia, PA that focus on any aspect of forensic pedagogy, practice, strategic planning, or any issues important to the forensic community. Pi Kappa Delta particularly welcomes submissions that reflect on the organization’s history, or on the NCA Convention theme, "Communication's Civic Callings." Abstracts will be considered, but completed papers will be granted special consideration. Submissions are open until March 30, 2016, at 11:59 p.m. PT. Please click here for more information.
FROM THE COMMUNITY
World Speech Day » The NSDA has secured support from Senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa as lead co-sponsor of a Senate resolution designating March 15, 2016, as National Speech & Debate Education Day as part of the first-ever World Speech Day. We need your help to generate support for the resolution from your state’s U.S. senators! We've provided sample text and contact information for you to use here. We NEED co-sponsors on both sides of the aisle for this resolution to become a reality. Contacting your senators will make all the difference!
Evidence-Based Argumention (EBATM) » Last week, the NSDA announced its partnership with the Boston Debate League to become the national provider of Evidence-Based Argumentation (EBATM). This innovative program brings the 21st century skills of critical thinking, analysis, evaluation, questioning, and problem solving to classrooms school-wide. Currently, the NSDA is approaching school districts across the county to add EBATM and speech and debate programs to their high schools and middle schools. To learn more about the benefits of these debate-centric tools, check out this brochure. If you can recommend or connect us to a key school district in your area that might be interested in the investment, please contact Nicole Wanzer-Serrano at nicole.wanzer-serrano@speechanddebate.org. You can also learn more at www.speechanddebate.org/EBA.
