Last month, Dr. Humaidan-Zayed was invited to speak as a panelist on immigrant and refugee health at the 4th Annual Health Equity Summit at University of Illinois College of Medicine at Rockford. Along with Dr. Evelyn Figueroa from UIC COM Chicago, Dr. Sally Arif from Northwestern University, and other advocates from local community organizations (Holly Sammons, Laura Han,and Adriana Londono), they discussed barriers and systemic gaps that immigrant and refugee communities face while offering solutions to how these gaps can be culturally addressed.
