Spotlight on Fellow Research
Helen Hay Whitney award recipient, Aaron Wexler, Ph.D hails from Lebanon, Pennsylvania. After earning his Ph.D from Yale University, he joined the Skaar lab, where he studies the nutrient metal utilization by the gut microbiota. Here, Wexler discusses his current work on Clostridioides difficile, as well his funding acquisition journey.

Planning a proposal submission in the next 2-3 months?
In an effort to better serve you, the PMI grants team requests that PIs and Fellows notify us as far in advance as possible, of submission plans. This ensures ample time to complete departmental requirements and also route to OSP for review, by their deadline. CoeusWeb: A new way to submit!
OSP has developed a new tool within the CoeusWeb application to submit proposals directly to grants.gov. This is in addition to the traditional method using Coeus Premium. OSP created a short PDF guide including screenshots, of what the PI will see during the process. The grants team will continue to be available to support PIs during the final approval and submission.

Notice on Policy Regarding Minimum Level of Effort for NCI-Funded Awards
In addition to previously established policies for specific grant mechanisms that have been described in funding opportunity announcements (FOAs), Principal Investigators (PIs), including Project Leaders on multi-project grants, will be required to commit a minimum level of effort to be eligible for NCI funding through R01, U01, P01, and R21 grant mechanisms. The minimum levels of effort are available via this link: NOT-CA-20-047.
