NOTE FROM THE COUNSELOR
Dear Wilkes Families,

February is here and we’ve got lots to celebrate—Black history month, past presidents, Punxsutawney Phil, mid-winter break, and your Valentine. Here at Wilkes, we’ve got one more addition: ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE DAY!

On Feb. 14 (aka Valentine’s Day), staff and students are invited to participate in our 1st annual All You Need Is Love Day. What is it exactly? There will be lots of opportunities during the day for students to choose to encourage compassion for others, remember those who love us, grow in love for oneself, and celebrate LOVE’s byproducts!

What can I do to be a part of this day?  Dress in pink, red, or white. Classrooms will be taking part in lessons, activities, books, and music centered around LOVE.
To get in the spirit, here’s a sweet book recommendation: LOVE, by Matt de La Pena and illustrated by Loren Long.

💛
Katie Brase

PTO Meeting this Friday!

Join the PTO and other parents on Friday, February 10 at 9:00 am in the Wilkes library for our monthly meeting. This month we have a special guest speaker, Chasity Malatesta from our BISD Multicultural Advisory Council, will be speaking about the role of MAC in our community and MAC's mission to "...help our students to freely embrace diversity and differences as desirable traits and as strengths and uniqueness of our country, as they confidently become contributing members and leaders in our increasingly diverse society locally, nationally, and globally.”
Please join us!  If you can't come in person, watch for the zoom link to be sent out the day before.
For questions regarding the PTO, please email ptowilkes@gmail.com.
HEALTH ROOM
Clothing donations needed for our health room
Our health room provides dry clothes for students who need a change of clothes.  With the recent wet weather. We are requesting sweatpants only. We especially need bigger sizes 8-12, however all soft pants of any size would be a great help.

If you have any gently used clothing you are no longer using, please consider donating them to the health room.  We would appreciate it!

CEE SURVEY
Your feedback is important!
BISD is administering the Center for Educational Effectiveness (CEE) annual survey to all parents & guardians, district staff, and students in grades 4-12. The online survey can be completed in about 10 minutes.
Parents & Guardians: Please click here to take the survey. The survey results are school specific - if you have students in more than one school, please submit a survey for each school. The survey will close on Monday, February 27th.

Students in grades 4-12 will take the survey at school.

BISD staff received a unique survey link via email earlier this week.

The survey results will provide important feedback and metrics specific to our District Improvement Plan's outlined goals and inform our schools' future work.
Please contact Kristen Haizlip, Executive Director of Secondary Teaching & Learning with any questions about the CEE survey at khaizlip@bisd303.org.
