SMUD Giving Monday School Supply Drive Was a Success

Thank you to those that donated or shared our SMUD Giving Monday School Supply Drive! We are thrilled to announce that we collected over 100 large packing boxes filled with school supplies!

It took the Sacramento Children's Home SIX van trips to transport all the goods!

The collected donations will reach approximately 1,500 to 2,000 families in the Sacramento community. In addition, over $1,700 in monetary donations were collected!

From the Cal Expo farm to our community

Did you know that Cal Expo has a working farm? We grow, tend, and harvest the farm year-round. During normal circumstances, we even offer school tours to highlight California agriculture, seeds, crop growing, and innovations in farming. Including interactive stations with soil and worm composting and tasting farm-fresh produce.

The harvested produce is donated to the Sacramento Food Bank. Here's our recent collection - almost 1,000 pounds of melons, peppers, squash, and cucumbers! We'll soon be picking apples, tomatoes, and more melons!
