Wellness Warrior
The Wellness Warrior Award is given to individuals across campus who are nominated by their peers for leading by example and inspiring through action as they work to create a healthier lifestyle.
The Wellness Warrior for the month of November is awarded to Erin Hatfield. Erin works in the Boyd Center for Business & Economic Research. She has been a member of the UTK family for 3 years and in her free time, she enjoys hiking, walking, playing with her dog, paddle boarding, and seeing live music.
We asked Erin what inspires her to make healthier choices and live a healthy lifestyle and she said that she likes being able to get out and do all of the things that she loves. "It feels good to take care of yourself and keep your body healthy."
When asked if she had a success story to share, Erin told us that through healthy lifestyle changes, she has lost 75 pounds over the past two years. This past year she really focused on proper nutrition in addition to her workout routine and she saw great results. "I started hiking a lot last year too, and decided to start working my way toward hiking all of the trails in the Smokies." Erin has accomplished roughly 150 miles and hopes to complete 20-30 more miles by the end of the year. "It has been a good excuse to explore areas I've never hiked before, instead of just doing the same old trails."
Congratulations Erin, and thank you for being a model of health and wellness on UT's Campus!
