Dear TMI Community,
The Metropolitan Health District has been made aware of potential measles exposures in the San Antonio community. While we have no reason to believe at this time that any exposures have affected our campus, out of an abundance of caution we want to remind our families of the following recommended actions:
|
-
Contact your health care provider if you believe you, or someone in your family, may have been exposed or are showing symptoms;
- Review your family immunization records to ensure you are current on vaccinations;
- Monitor for symptoms such as a fever or unexplained rash for 4 to 21 days after exposure;
-
Follow the advice of your healthcare provider on when to stay home from work, school, or other gatherings. However, if your child has a fever of 100.0°F or higher, please keep them home until they have been fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication.
|
Common Symptoms for measles includes:
|
- High fever
- Cough
- Runny Nose
- Red and watery Eyes
- Tiny white spots that may appear inside the mouth 2-3 days after symptoms begin
- Rash 3-5 days after other signs of illness. The “measles rash” typically starts at the face then spreads down to the rest of the body.
