SCHOOL NOTES FROM MRS. WOODMAN
Dear Families and Friends,

Today we bid bon voyage to Ms. Unwin, Mrs. Wood, Fr. Dexter, Tony Emmanuel, Dave Kuhlman, and Earl and Martha Weissert as they travel to our twin parishes in Haiti (Notre Dame des Sept Doleurs in Pilette and Notre Dame d’Altagrace in Roche-Platte) as goodwill ambassadors from CTK. They took donated clothing and medicine with them to share with the parishioners there. Mr. Emmanuel and the Home and School Association donated CKS tee shirts and shorts as special gifts from our spirit store for the Haitian students. Ms. Unwin and Mrs. Wood will be collaborating with the Haitian teachers around ways we can form a beneficial partnership between our schools. They will share what they’ve learned with our faculty and students when they return. We hope this will make our Change for Haiti collection during Lent more personal for our students this year.

Last week I shared information about our school’s newest digital devices. The Chromeboxes are installed in the lab now, thanks to Mr. Boehm. I have heard positive feedback from Mrs. Foster and the students. Another exciting development on the technology horizon is the purchase of a 3D printer for the school library thanks to a donation for this purpose from Novacopy, one of our corporate sponsors. Mrs. Williamson and Mrs. Foster are already collaborating on a design project with a seventh grade class that will be the first to print when our machine arrives in March. All of the classes will enjoy getting to see the printing in action when they go to the library. Here’s a sneak preview: https://www.prusaprinters.org/original-prusa-i3-mk3-bloody-smart/

Ms. Anne Burbach will join the faculty on February 20 as the interim substitute in kindergarten during Mrs. Gormans’ maternity leave. Ms. Burbach has a BA in Early Childhood Education, a minor in literacy education, and a special education endorsement. She taught kindergarten at St. Jerome Parish School in Oconomowoc, WI before moving to Nashville last year.

Mark your calendar for two special events on March 6. Bishop Spalding and Dr. Williams will visit Christ the King on the morning of March 6 and the bishop will celebrate school Mass with the students at 8:15. We are excited and honored by this visit. Our spring Home and School meeting will be that evening at 6:00 pm with a speaker on Internet safety. This topic has been widely requested by parents and we are happy to be able to offer this resource. A letter with details is in Friday folders this week.

Our Catholic Schools Week celebration begins this weekend. Check out our calendar and join us for Mass, a parish reception, Distinguished Graduate presentation, the annual talent show, or the 8th grade vs. faculty basketball game. All are welcome!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Sherry Woodman
Principal
