The case of the artful intern
She's majoring in chemistry, but this summer Tiara Woods applied the knowledge and skills she gained from her art and art history minors during an internship at the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art. Woods' work ran the gamut from researching the collection in order to recommend pieces for deaccessioning to helping curate an exhibition for the education gallery to carefully cleaning two large limestone lions on the museum's grounds.

Fighting fraud
TU Law student Bailey Ryals (3L) recently externed with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), helping protect consumers against fraudulent business practices. "My time at the FTC enabled me to strengthen my legal research and writing skills, piece together case facts, review extensive legal documents, draft declarations and more," Ryals said. "It also exposed me to an assortment of substantive and procedural legal issues I'm going to need to be familiar with after graduation."

Powered up
Lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) are in nearly every nook and cranny of our lives – from mobile phones to laptops, electric cars to "smart" watches – but the impacts of mining and dismal recycling rates mean LIBs are a major environmental concern. Enter mechanical engineering sophomore Malia Aurigemma, whose Tulsa Undergraduate Research Challenge project deploys social media to educate consumers on "how to maintain LIBs so that we can slow down the depletion of the planet's natural resources and reduce our electronic waste."
