We were honored to present special awards to community partners, volunteers, and employees who have demonstrated their commitment to supporting people and families affected by intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) at the annual Community, Volunteer, and Employee Awards.  Pictured here are just a few of the stars that are making a real difference in people’s lives and we extend our thanks to them all!

65th Anniversary
Kick-off Event

The Arc Montgomery County hosted a picnic on June 25 to kick off our 65th year of supporting the IDD community.  Family, friends, and honored guests from the Montgomery County Council and the State of Maryland were on hand to celebrate, swear in new board members, and express their commitment to helping people of all ages and abilities lead inclusive and fulfilling lives

FY2024 Board of Directors

Please join us in welcoming the FY2024 Board of Directors!  Ballots were cast on Friday, June 23 and board members and officers were installed by Montgomery County Council President Evan Glass on Sunday, June 25 during the annual Membership Meeting.
Newly joining the board are:

  • Dana Simpler
The membership also elected a new Vice President, Christina Young, and new Secretary, Kim Hope.

National Disability Employment Awareness Month

New Laptops for Children & Youth Services!

The Arc Montgomery County has been awarded a MEER grant, securing 32 computers for our Children & Youth Services programs at After All and KFICCC!
The MEER grant program aims to bridge the digital divide, providing necessary resources to K-12 students and school staff who lack internet access or devices. We're grateful to be recognized as an eligible applicant and to receive this incredible support.
We extend our heartfelt appreciation to MontgomeryConnects, part of the Montgomery County Office of Broadband Programs Technology and Enterprise Business Solutions for their vision and commitment to decreasing the digital divide.

Social Media Safety Series

Add to your online safety toolbox with The Arc Montgomery County's Social Media Safety Series.  This series of virtual workshops focuses on teaching strategies for people with IDD to remain safe while engaging socially online. 
All workshops will be led by industry expert Dr. Mary Jo Krile, PhD.  Dr. Krile specializes in teaching digital literacy to young adults with IDD. The 5 part series includes:
  • July 5- Accessing Technology
  • July 19- Social Media 101
  • July 26- Social Media Setting
  • August 9- Identifying and Addressing Online Danger
  • August 16- Safely Connecting with Others Online
All workshops are free and open to the public.

STAND Together on July 12

Calling all self-advocates!  We have an opportunity for you to make a difference in Montgomery County!
STAND Together is a peer-led self-advocacy group that meets monthly on Zoom where people with IDD who live in Montgomery County meet to talk about the issues impacting them and create action plans to make meaningful changes in the community where they live, work, and play.
The next meeting will be held Wednesday, July 12 at 4 pm on Zoom.  Click here to register today!
STAND Together is part of Empowering Partners, a statewide initiative to grow and strengthen local self-advocacy groups.
