Mike Healey receives the Jay Barrows Lifetime Community Service Award

Mike's Story

The town of Mansfield and Keep Mansfield Beautiful has seen firsthand how one person’s dedication can make a lasting impact on an entire community. For more than three decades, Mike Healey has quietly and consistently stepped forward wherever help is needed. If you don’t know Mike by name, you may recognize him around town—often behind the wheel of his dark gray truck, on his way to lend a hand.

Mike’s volunteer efforts reach every corner of the community. He assists on Household Hazardous Waste Day, helps plant and care for the downtown flower barrel program, and participates in townwide cleanups and corporate-sponsored service days. He regularly collects food from local supermarkets for the food pantry, organizes and distributes those donations, and delivers food to elderly residents who are unable to leave their homes. Mike also takes time to clean the memorial plaques at Saint Mary’s Cemetery, along with contributing to countless other community efforts throughout the year.

Those who volunteer alongside Mike know that his commitment goes far beyond simply showing up. More often than not, Mike is the first person to arrive. His work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail ensure that every project is successful. Behind the scenes, he carefully coordinates food drives with organizations across town, collaborates with the Department of Public Works to efficiently water and fertilize the downtown flowers, and leads the Knights of Columbus volunteer group during Mansfield’s spring and fall cleanups—often taking on the most challenging locations with pride and determination.

With this award, we recognize and celebrate Mike’s remarkable 33 years of service to the Mansfield community. His tireless dedication, compassion for others, integrity, and deep love for this town embody the very best of community spirit. Mike’s example reminds us that one person’s commitment can truly make a difference for us all.

CONGRATULATIONS MIKE, so well deserved, and THANK YOU for being an inspiration to our team.

Register Now For the 2026 Great Mansfield Cleanup!

Spring has officially arrived, which means it's time for the 19th annual Great Mansfield Cleanup.
Keep Mansfield Beautiful's annual town-wide cleanup will take place on Saturday, April 25 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.  A volunteer appreciation pizza party will be held immediately afterward from 11:30-1:00 p.m. on the Mansfield South Common.

Pre-registration is required by no later than 5 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15. If you miss this deadline, you can report to the Mansfield South Common starting at 8:30 a.m. on April 25. However, our planning process is much easier if you pre-register and tee shirts cannot be guaranteed, so please register today.

During last year’s cleanup, more than 500 volunteers, including groups from the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, local religious groups, community groups, and businesses removed nearly two tons of litter and debris from roadsides, parks, and school grounds.

To help cover the costs of highly visible tee shirts, gloves, grabbers, bags and the volunteer appreciation lunch, Keep Mansfield Beautiful is seeking financial support from local businesses and residents. If you’re unable to volunteer or participate in the cleanup itself, you can still support the effort by making a donation. Contributions can be made online at www.keepmansfieldbeautiful.com. 🌿

Mansfield’s event is part of the statewide Great Massachusetts Cleanup program led by Keep Massachusetts Beautiful. Locally, North Attleboro, Attleboro, Easton,  Plainville, Rehoboth, and Wrentham are also planning Great Massachusetts Cleanup events this spring.

We hope you will join us and help keep Mansfield litter-free!

NEW Program - Community Roots

Apply for a chance to win a free tree for your yard or business.

Community Roots is a new Keep Mansfield Beautiful initiative, made possible by a generous tree donation from Patriot Subaru of North Attleboro through the Subaru of America partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation.
Mansfield families and local businesses are invited to apply for a FREE TREE to plant on their property—whether to create shade, restore green space, support pollinators, or honor someone meaningful.
If selected, you’ll be notified and can pick up your tree at the Great Mansfield Cleanup on April 25, 2026, along with a KMB watering can and planting and care guidance. We hope to make Community Roots an annual tradition, growing Mansfield’s tree canopy year after year.
