On Thursday, April 12th, Victim Assistance Program will host its annual Victims’ Rights Luncheon from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM at Portage Country Club, 240 N. Portage Path in Akron. The annual event, held during National Crime Victims’ Rights Week, raises awareness of victims’ rights, honors crime victims, and thanks those who advocate for them.
This year’s keynote speaker is Senator Frank LaRose, from Ohio’s 27th Senate District. Senator LaRose represents the people of Summit, Stark and Wayne counties and will speak on the passage of Senate Bill 133, an amendment to section 3301.0714 of the Ohio Revised Code.
Pamela Hinton, retired Assistant Principal from Barberton, will receive the Rev. Dr. Robert Denton Outstanding Victim Service Award. During her tenure as Assistant Principal, Ms. Hinton sustained serious injuries due to student violence. Because of this assault, Ms. Hinton began collaborating with Victim Assistance Program to establish a support group for those impacted by violence in a school setting.
Tickets for the National Crime Victims’ Rights Week Luncheon are available now for $30.00 per person. Make your reservations today at NCVRWluncheon.eventbrite.com.
