Demetris and his volunteer tutor, Joel, have worked together for a year and a half. In this time, Demetris has achieved several important goals. His reading level has gone up more than a grade level; he has finished several textbooks, read many books of increasing difficulty, and has spent more time reading outside the classroom. Most recently, Demetris obtained his CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) and looks forward to new job opportunities. Joel says that in addition to being very dependable and a really hard worker, Demetris “is really fun to talk to. We have become good friends.” Demetris echoes this sentiment and says that Joel is “really cool and easy to work with” and that he is just “a good person.” Demetris appreciates that Joel always finds supplemental resources and worksheets to help him with things he needs extra practice on. In addition to working on reading together, Demetris and Joel have become good friends and have met outside of class to do things together, such as playing tennis.

Thank you for supporting us at Kendra Scott!
|
You showed up and showed out last week for our in-store and online fundraiser at Kendra Scott. Together we raised almost $200 for NALC. That covers books and materials for one learner, like a license for Burlington English, our online curriculum built using methods identified by linguists, educators, and software developers for overcoming the specific challenges of language learning.
Thank you for supporting our work!
