Dear Friends,
Hello and Congratulations.
I am Venerable Priya Sraman, a Theravāda Buddhist monk and the Buddhist Chaplain in the Emory Office of Spiritual and Religious Life. I am delighted to welcome you to Emory University where you will soon explore and engage in many wonderful resources within and beyond the classroom. I wanted to take this opportunity to present to you the various resources available here for exploring Buddhist life at Emory.
The Buddhist Chaplaincy in the Office of Spiritual and Religious Life is dedicated to supporting your religious and spiritual needs through regular Buddhist programs such as meditations, dharma discussions, guest lectures, gardening, and other Buddhist programs.
The Emory Buddhist Club (EBC), led by Emory students, is a great resource for learning Dharma and connecting with the Buddhist community on campus and the local area. EBC and Buddhist chaplaincy offer weekly Buddhist meditation gatherings in Cannon Chapel, which is a great space to meet amazing teachers from diverse Buddhist traditions--Theravada, Mahayana, and Tibetan. You can connect with EBC virtually through
Instagram,
Facebook, and in person at the Spiritual Life Resource Fair on August 23 12:30-2:30 on Cox Hall Bridge (Rain location: Cannon Chapel).
This website developed by an EBC alum has useful information regarding various Buddhist programs offered beyond Emory by Buddhist centers in greater Atlanta/Georgia.
I hope you will have the opportunity to explore the many resources available to support your Buddhist religious and spiritual practices. As your Buddhist chaplain and a fellow Buddhist practitioner, I am always available for any concerns and/or curiosities you might have regarding the Buddhist tradition. Whether for your personal practice, or for mere interest, you are welcome to reach out to me for a chat anytime.
I look forward to connecting with you.
With much mettā (loving-kindness),
Venerable Priya
