Happy New year from BTS!
New changes are coming with the new year, including an expanded Circulator route, increased transit benefits and an opportunity to get recognized for the awesome benefits that you provide!
Commuter Connections Employer Awards - Get Recognized!

Each year, Commuter Connections (part of the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments) recognizes companies around the Washington region who are doing great things for their employees to help them get out of their cars and onto transit or into carpools and telework. Commuter Connections is currently seeking nominations for their Annual Employer Recognition Awards for companies who are leaders in the following categories:
  • Incentives - Providing benefits that make using alternative transportation modes easier, and more attractive to employees, than driving alone, including the following:
    •  transit and vanpool subsidies
    •  pre-tax transit and vanpool passes
    •  preferred or discounted parking for carpools and vanpools
  • Marketing - Developing creative methods to promote alternative commuting options to employees.
  • Teleworking - Initiating or enhancing a successful telework program for employees.
Bethesda has a proud tradition of nominating many companies for regional recognition. Last year’s “Honorable Mention” companies include Abt Associates, Calvert Investments, and Honest Tea.

If you would like for your company to be considered, please contact Derrick Harrigan at BTS - Dharrigan@bethesda.org 301-656-0868 X126.  Derrick will help you draft your company’s nomination using information in your Traffic Mitigation Plan. The deadline for nominations is February 3, 2016!
New Circulator Route Starts January 4
Now, you can take the FREE way around Bethesda even further!
Beginning January 4, 2016, the Bethesda Circulator will extend its route up to Battery Boulevard and down to Bradley Lane. Click here to see a map of the new route!
Transit Benefit Cap Increases in 2016
Beginning in 2016, the maximum transit benefit allowance will increase from $130 to $255 each month.
If your employer allows you to set aside money pre-tax for transit benefits, you may now set aside nearly twice as much! The new limit also applies to the employer-paid option offered by some companies.
